EU Pilot 4
PLAN4ALL
The PLAN4ALL Pilot consists of Farm Noll in the Central Bohemia Region. Experimental area covers around 2ha within overall farm area of 290 ha.
PILOT CHALLENGES (CONTEXT)
The different quality of soil/land within farm (different fertility). Farm area is extremely vulnerable to wind and soil erosion. Soil in experimental field (sandy-loam) has low water retention capacity, therefore the main challenge is to improve water retention in this locality and increase the content of organic material.
PILOT OBJECTIVES
Application of agrotechnical measures (e.g. erosion control measures)
Improving soil water retention capacity (including biochar application)
Optimization of irrigation and fertilization system - control, etc.
PILOT INNOVATIONS
Farm NOLL and its activities brings several innovations. Although biochar is already well known, there is still many innovative ways of its modification, varieties with conventional organic matters and different ways of application even in large scale and in operational conditions. Building up of the comprehensive overview of new or existing fragmented data from field as well as from advanced IT systems incl. EO data and data gained from regional, national and global databases and identification of its relations will facilitate further development and implementation of the method incl. market uptake.
